Uninsured Motorist & Underinsured Motorist Coverage;

It is important to carry enough insurance to protect you if your injuries are permanent and you can not work. How do you survive and provide for your family?

What is Uninsured Motorist Coverage? If the driver of the other car hits your car and carries no insurance, and you have auto liability insurance coverage with uninsured motorist coverage, you can collect from your own insurance company up to the limits of your policy. Example: If you have only $12,500 coverage, then you may only collect $12,500 no matter how severe your injuries are. If you have $100,000 in coverage, with uninsured Motorist Coverage, then you could collect up to $100,000 from your own policy, if the injures and damages warrant such award.

What is Underinsured Motorist Coverage? If the other driver has $12,500 coverage and you have $100,000 in coverage, you can collect $12,500 from the other driver, and $87,500 from your insurance company if the injuries and damages warrant such an award.

Insurance Companies do not have to include Underinsured Motorist coverage or Uninsured Motorist coverage as required in the past, in your liability policy. You must make sure you have Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Coverage with your insurance agent, or call an attorney to help you.

What is an Umbrella Insurance Policy? You can also purchase an Umbrella Policy that will cover you above your policy limits from $300,000 to $1,000,000 or more, which is very cheap insurance and only comes into play if you injuries and the value of your case exceeds the wrongdoers insurance and your own insurance policy limits. CHECK YOUR POLICY!

Some insurance companies exclude members of the same family, if the driver was a family member and was at fault. Check with your insurance agent, or an attorney to protect yourself and make sure you have the coverage needed.
